A Certificate of Good Standing, also known as a Certificate of Existence or Certificate of Status, is a document issued by a government agency (usually the Secretary of State or equivalent) that confirms a business entity's legal status, ongoing existence, and compliance with state requirements. This certificate is often required when a business entity is engaging in various transactions, such as entering into contracts, applying for loans, or expanding operations to another jurisdiction.

If you need to present a Certificate of Good Standing in another country, the certificate will need to be notorised by a solicitor in the UK and sent to the Foreign & Commonwealth Office to be apostilled.
